I am inspired in my role by the students that I support, the colleagues that I work with and my family. Beyond this I am inspired by the evolution of both the city and University of Sunderland.

I believe that working within higher education can be transformational. The reach that the University of Sunderland has is significant, whether this is delivery at Sunderland, London, Hong Kong or via our transnational education partnerships. It really makes you think of the impact which we have as individuals can be hugely significant in students’ educational journeys.

I aim to reflect on my own educational and work experiences, using them to reduce barriers where possible for those coming after me. I believe that paying forward to the next generation of students and educators is crucial.

I strive to engage with a variety of continued professional development opportunities to identify areas of development and to improve wherever and whenever possible.
